Hervé Schauer (Harvey Schauer) is a world-renowned expert on information systems security.
After computer studies at the Paris 6 University (Jussieu University), he
quickly becomes a pioneer of computer security in France, with, among others,
the publication of series of articles on Unix security and intrusion detection
in 1987.
In 1989, he establishes his own consulting agency (Hervé Schauer Consultants). He is the
inventor of proxy services
for the
french space agency (CNES) in 1991, presented at the Usenix Security Symposium
in 1992, but did not patent his invention so it can later be used freely in
most commercial firewalls.
Hervé Schauer has published or contributed to many books and articles
, notably on Internet security, network
partitioning, which he invented, authentication, wireless technologies
security, ISO 27001 and ISO 27005 standards, etc.
Hervé Schauer serves as a guest lecturer and instructor at numerous high-tech
conferences
in Europe and abroad.
Hervé Schauer served as consultant to 200 french and worldwide companies,
telcos, national governments and international agencies.
He serves as a technology advisor to a number of start-ups, established
concerns and venture capital firms.
Hervé Schauer also has responsibilities in several associations; he has
notably been chairing the Unix and Network Security group of the OSSIR
since 1989, co-founded OSSIR
and the french chapters of
ISOC and
ISSA, and launched the Club 27001 (French ISMS Users Group).
Hervé Schauer is a regular correspondent about information security for
journalists of the specialized
press.
Hervé Schauer is certified CISSP by ISC2 (2004), ITIL Foundations (2007) and Information Security Foundation (2010) by EXIN, ProCSSI by INSECA (2004) and ISO 27001 Lead Auditor (2005), ISO 27001 Lead Implementer (2006), and ISO 27005 Risk Manager (2008) by LSTI, and is registered ISMS provisional auditor by RABQSA
(2007).
